Live streaming for conferences and meetings

Orlando is the number one meeting destination in the country, with thousands of events occurring every year at the Orange County Convention Center and the many surrounding convention hotels and centers.

"Orlando continues to invest in our industry every year, with even more new additions to our expansive convention center district, innovative new venues and attractions, and more quality dining options for every type of group," said Visit Orlando President and CEO George Aguel. "To receive the honor of once again being recognized by Cvent as the No. 1 meetings destination in the country, only reinforces our ongoing commitment to this important industry" reported Cvent in it's annual report of top meeting destinations.

An increasing number of those meetings stream keynote and general sessions, as well as top breakout sessions to associates, customers and other stakeholders, and Orlando Webcasts streams many of those sessions.

Our Meeting and Conference and Encoding Services allow clients to secure the needed crew and equipment with a single phone call. We work hand in hand with on-site A/V companies including PSAV, Cramer, Production Resource Group and other event production companies to ensure a seamless experience for our clients.

Orlando Webcasts one-call solution to live streaming

We recently provided production services for one of our webcast Content Delivery Network partners. We provided, cameras, lighting, audio, encoding and streaming services to support the live event.

After conducting a site survey for our client, we worked with a staging company for pipe and drape as well as a lighting company to provide two lighting towers for the meeting area, which was located inside their office building.

Our tech tables were located in an area near the back of the room and included a primary and backup encoder, slide laptop, playback laptop and backup laptop. Two camera feeds and the slide feed were switched into the encoded live stream. We also provided six microphones for the presenters and handheld microphones for audience Q&A.

Encoding live events

One of our most requested services is video encoding. We often work with the house A/V company to receive their camera and audio feed in order to encode and stream the signal to a Content Delivery Network.

Our standard video encoding package includes two quad-core laptops loaded with Wirecast encoding software (one as a primary encoder, one as backup), plus an assortment of DA's (distriubtion amplifiers), converters and scalers, along with more cables and connectors than we will ever need.

Some events find us set in the back of the room (top photo), while other times we are backstage working in relative darkness (above). Every once in a great while, we are treated to a great view of the area (below). No matter where we find ourselves, including meeting rooms, convention centers and golf courses, we come prepared to encode and stream live events.

When the weather impacts your conference, Live Stream it!

Most of our live stream events are booked weeks in advance, but earlier this month, we received a call for a next-day stream. Winter weather was  wreaking havoc in the Northeast and airlines were cancelling flights, which impacted attendees for a conference here in Orlando.

To solve this problem, the conference organizers decided to live stream a full day of their two-day event, allowing those who couldn't make it to Orlando to attend virtually.

Orlando Webcasts provided the camera, wireless microphones, audio mixer, converter equipment and laptops for the 9-hour live stream. We connected to the clients GoToWebinar account where the remote viewers connected to the live conference. We connected to the internet with a wired connection provided by the hotel.

This was a small conference, so every attendee was very important. Using an existing asset, GoToWebinar, the organizers insured those stuck in the Northeast were not left out in the cold!

We were pleased to be part of the solution and worked with the client to provide our crew and equipment at an affordable price that met their budget.

Thinking about live streaming your conference, keynote or session? Orlando Webcasts can live stream to any social or business platform and can provide the camera, microphones, lighting and all the encoding equipment needed to connect you to your audience. Take time to see more of Orlando

While Orlando is rightfully known as the theme park capital of the world, the City Beautiful and it's surrounding communities offer a host of activities that keep us locals busy.

The New York Times recently published their suggestions for how to spend 36 hours in Orlando. It's a good primer for the visitor who wants to explore more of O-Town and it's neighbors, no matter how many hours you have!

Season's Greetings from Orlando Webcasts

When you grow up in Florida, as I did, the holiday season looks and feels considerably different from northern states. That said, unless you had a heated swimming pool, it was still too cold for most natives to take a swim in late December! Perhaps we're a bit 'lightweight' when it comes to handling the cold, but we'll gladly suffer through the 70 and 80 degree days in the winter.

My uncle owned an orange grove in Central Florida and it was this time of year when the oranges were on the tree, ripening in advance of a January picking. While most of his oranges were destined to become juice, he had a few naval, tangerine and other varieties that he maintained for our family. I enjoyed picking oranges from the tree and eating one before we departed the grove. They were always delicious.

Oranges, in a way, also represented the holidays.  Like snow on the ground, an orange on the tree was a sure sign the holidays were upon us. So this holiday season, enjoy some traditional meals and drinks, and maybe, just maybe, eat an orange. I sure will. Happy Holidays!

Streaming Saturday - A favorite returns

Almost a year ago, we discovered the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam in Fort Myers, FL. The webcams are mounted above the nest of two Bald Eagles, Harriet and M15. The webcams are turned on in the fall and usually run through the spring before being turned off during the summer months. This past week, Harriet laid two eggs which, with luck, will hatch sometime in late December. **UPDATE** Both eggs hatched in late December.

You can read the whole story of the Eagle Cam at http://www.dickpritchettrealestate.com/eagle-feed.html#

Watch and maybe you'll get hooked like we did!

Giving Thanks

We hope you enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. We will be spending time with family and friends during our three-day break between November 22-24. We'll be back in the office on Monday, November 27th.

While we should give thanks throughout the year, this holiday provides an opportunity to reflect on the past year. We certainly are thankful for our wonderful clients who call on us when they need live streaming services. Our contractors, vendors and partners are simply outstanding and we couldn't succeed without their assistance.

Lastly, I am personally thankful for my family and the sacrifices they make in allowing me to pursue my passion. I'm fortunate to be working in an industry that excites and challenges me every day - and provides satisfaction in seeing projects completed successfully. It's been a great year.

Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving.
